64 - Tusky Valley Has The Pirates Walk Their Own Plank 49-43 (12-6-63)
SUGARCREEK - Fouls proved to be the difference in this thriller. The Trojans (1-0) (1-0) made 11 of 19, while the Pirates (0-1) (2-1) hit on 5 of 8. Both teams connected on 19 action shots. The score was knotted 10 times, the last time 40-40 with 3 minutes left. Aggressiveness on the part of the Ken Gold-coached Trojans caused a turnover and put them ahead. Garaway made 38 percent of its field goal tries and Tuscarawas Valley 34. The Trojans led in rebounds, 36 to 31. Bob Burris led the way with 10. Frank Miller pulled down 7 for the Pirates. Paul Shipbaugh ajnd Gary Ferren both had 12 points to top the Trojan scorers. Bill Richardson paced the Glenn Snyder-coached Pirates with 18. Randy Miller added 13. The Tuscarawas Valley Reserves (1-2) dropped the Garaway Reserves (1-1) 36-31.
