DOVER - Eightteen Tuscarawas County Class A basketballers are averaging in double figures, according  to statistics kept by this writer.  Strasburg has 4 cagers in 2 digits.  Dean DeMattio of Midvale has the best per game average with 25.01 and John Peters of unbeaten  Strasburg 24.5.  DeMattio has the most  points, 326, the most field goals, 121 and the most foul shots, 84.  Don Wallick, a vital cog in Strasburg's well-oiled machine and a good bet for All-League honors, has been one of the most consistent players in  this area, with a low of 13 points and a high of 19.  He is averaging 17.1 points per outing, fine work.

Undefeated Strasburg brought recognition to Tuscarawas County today, gaining the eighth spot among Ohio's Class A schools in the Associated Press rankings of the season.  The Tigers, under first-year Coach  Bob Shahan, captured one first-place vote and got 33 points all told.  And this was before Saturday's victory over Tuslaw which pushed their record to 11-0.  The Midvale Blue Devils polled 17 votes.
