TUSCARAWAS - A cold 1st period cost Tuscarawas (0-2) a win here Friday night as West Lafayette triumphed.  The Dick Ronald-coached Broncos fell behind 22-10 at the 1st half and couldn't quite catch up.  They tried, moving to within one point with 2 minutes left in the game.  The Broncos had one more field goal than the Generals, 24 to 23, but the visitors canned 21 of 28 free throws,, while the hosts made 12 of 21.  Tuscarawas took 61 action shots, hitting on  39 percent.  West Lafayette attempted 51, canning 45 percent.  Tuscarawas played without the services of 6-2 Russ McGlothlin because of pneumonia.  He may have made the difference, especially on the boards.  Maxwell led in rebounds with 7, but the  Generals pulled down 32 to 24 for the Broncos.  Roger Knisely was high point man for the Broncos with 20.  Chuck Reichman added 17 and Phil Caldwell 11.  Shivers topped West Lafayette with 22 points, followed closely by McCree's 20 points.  The Tuscarawas Reserves (2-0) had a close game, outdistancing the West Lafayette Reserves 50-48.
