ZOARVILLE - Midvale (3-0) (6-1) led all the way in this expected close battle, but never could pull for enough out in front to rest easy. The Pete Hilliard-coached Blue Devils led 18-5 at the 1st stop, 28-21 at the half and 39-29 after 3 periods. Defense was the key to the outcome as big Gary Ferren was the only Trojan to reach double figures, while Dean DeMattio and Dan Kohler both hit that level for the Devils. DeMattio took game honors with 22 points, including 14 of 15 free tosses. Kohler added 14. Ferren, of TV, popped in 19. Midvale canned 17 of 51 action shots for 31 percent and made 18 of 28 free tosses. Tuscarawas Valley (2-1) (2-3) meshed 14 of 40 from the floor for 30 percent and popped in 18 of 31 charities. There was no mention of a Reserve game.
