64 - Strasburg Holds Back Conotton Valley 75-63 (2-1-64)




LEESVILLE - Conotton Valley (7-8) exploded for an 11-3 lead in the opening minutes, but trailed at the stop 14-13 and could never again catch the Bengals (15-1).  A late surge by the Rockets in the final quarter cut the closing margin to 12.  Sharp-shooter John Peters led the Tigers with 26 points and now has a total of 385 for the season.  Rock Van Fossen backed Peters up with 16 markers, Rick Hall added 14 and Vic Gessner got 13 in a well rounded attack.  Conotton Valley also had four players in double figures for Errol Jacobs' Rockets with Ernie Smith leading the way popping 20 points.  Jim Monigold got 14, Connor 13 and Ken Newell 10.  Strasburg struck for 28 field goals in 64 tries for 44 percent and made 19 of 26 charities.  Conotton Valley hit on 26 fielders in 85 atttempts for 31 percent and made 11 of 16 free throws.  Hall pulled down 21 rebounds for the Bengals as they snagged 48 off the boards to 31 by Conotton Valley.  The Conotton Valley Reserves brought down the mighty Strasburg Reserves (14-2) 47-44, Strasburg's only 2nd loss of the entire season.
