64 - Gnaden Gets By Conotton Valley 57-54 (1-25-64)




GNADENHUTTEN - Coach Oren Thompson saw the Gnadenhutten High Indians (5-11) win their 1st home game of the season here Saturday night over Conotton Valley(6-6).  The Tribe, down 13-8 at the 1st stop, led 24-22 at the half and 46-39 at the 3rd rest;although, the score changed hands several times throughout.  Great board work overcame sloppy ball handling for the Indians as they grabbed in 44 rebounds to only 22 for the Errol Jacobs-coached Rockets.  They also committed 34 turnovers.  Gnadenhutten sank 23 of 61 action shots for 38 percent and made 11 of 25 foul tries.  Conotton Valley drilled in 20 of 54 for 37 cercent and 13 of 21.  Larry Rentsch led the board work with 18 rebounds.  Bruce Kohl nestled in 12.  Kohl and Rentsch also were the top point-makers with 17 and 18 respectively.  Jim Monigold got 18 and Ken newell 11 for Conotton Valley.  Eight points was the biggest lead of the night and belonged to the Indians in the 2nd and 3rd frames.  The Gnaden Reserves (6-7) walloped the Conotton Valley Reserves 55-34.
