64 - Garaway Blasts Conotton Valley 79-36 (11-30-63)

SUGARCREEK - "Our boys really had a night for themselves," Garaway High Coach Glenn Snyder said Saturday night after the Pirates (2-0) had blasted Conotton Valley's Rockets into space.  The hosts started slowly, but began to open a big margin midway in the first period and spurted farther ahead as the  game progressed.  Garaway enjoyed a great night from action, meshing 53 percent of its shots.  From the foul lines the Pirates canned 56 percent.  It was a well-balanced attack that sent the Rockets into the doldrums as 3 Pirates reached double figures.  Sharp-shooting Don Deetz led the way with 21 markers, John Spear added 18 and Randy Miller popped in 11.  Jim Tope threw in 11 to top the Rockets, coached by former Baltic mentor Errol Jacobs.  Defense played a major part in the outcome as the Pirates limited the visitors to only 4 points in the 3rd canto.  In The Reserve battle, Larry Milligan paced the young Garaway team (1-0)  to a 33-29 verdict as he got 12 points against Conotton Valley.
