64 - Garaway Rips Hiland 68-53 (1-25-64)




SUGARCREEK - Garaway's improved Pirates (10-5) won their 4th straight contest here Saturday night with a convincing triumph over a good Hiland (10-4) aggregation.  Garaway led all the way, posting 20-13, 37-26 and 56-36 quarter margins.  It was a great team and defensive effort by the Glenn Snyder-coached Pirates, with 4 hitting in double figures.  Don Deetz was high point-maker with 18.  Jim Young got 17 Randy Miller 14 and Dan Andreas 12.  None of the Hawks reached 2 digits.  Garaway, which lost a 62-57 decision to Hiland at Berlin earlier in the season, sank 23 of 52 action shots for 43 percent and made 22 of 36 charities.  Hiland, under coach Bob Schrock, drilled through 20 of 49 for 40 percent and 13 of 18.  The Pirates grabbed 53 rebounds and the Hawks 38.  Andreas was top man with 17.  Bill Horrisberger got 11 for Hiland.  The Hiland Reserves edged the Garaway Reserves (4-9) 31-29.
