Strasburg should be in the thick of the fight for Tuscarawas County class A League basketball honors this season.  First year Coach Bob Shahan has 4 lettermen around which to build the attack, including high scoring John Peters, a 6-0 Senior guard.  Other veterans back are Rock Van Fossen, 5-10 Junior forward, Vic Gessner, 5-10 Senior guard and Don Wallick, 6-2 Senior forward.  The 1962-63 Tigers, under Warren Binder, now at Alliance, won 20 of 25 outings for the best mark the school has had since the 1954-55 aggregation posted a 26-3 slate.  Gone from last season's team; however, are All-League pick Adrian Edie and No. 6 man Joe Aul.  Both were key figures as the Tigers went all the way to District tournament finals where they bowed 65-59 to Adena.  Edie tallied 421 points and Aul 81.  Peters was top scorer on last year's club and also was an All-League choice.  He potted 439 markers.  Wallick added 276, Gessner 216 and Von Fossen 145.  Also missing via graduation are Chuck Himes and Frank Welling who tallied 6 and 18 points respectively.  Others seeking starting berths are Mike Mercier, 6-4 Senior,  Don Gerber, 6-2 Junior, Ron Lab, 5-10 Junior, Fred Scherer, 6-1 Senior John Thomas, 6-1 Senior, Rick Hall, 6-3 Junior, Tom Dreher, 5-9 Junior, Terry Hess, 5-7 Junior, Mike Kuntz, 5-11 Junior, and Bill Hoffman, 5-9 Junior.
