64 - Gnaden Shocks Tusky Valley 62-57 (1-18-64)




ZOARVILLE - Gnadenhutten (4-10) rose up to knock off Tuscarawas Valley (6-7) Saturday night after trailing 46-39 going into the final frame.  The encounter was deadlocked with a minute left.  A tight, pressing defense turned the tide in favor of the Oren Thompson-coached Indians who entered the game  with a 3 wins after ending a 9-contest losing streak Friday at Baltic.  Tuscarawas Valley, under the leadership of first-year boss Ken Gold had won 6 games.  The Indians outshot the Trojans 22 of 50 for 44 percent to 20 of 59 for 34 percent in field goals and made 18 of 29 charities, while the Trojans were sinking 13 of 25.  Larry Rentsch paced the Tribe with 22 markers.  Bruce Kohl added 14.  Bob Burris led the Trojans with 17 and hauled down 11 rebounds.  Paul Shipbaugh got 14 and  Ron Wolfe 10.  The Tuscarawas Valley Reserves (4-7) won their game over the Gnadenhutten Reserves (5-6) 45-38.
