63 - Garaway Nips Strasburg 8-7 (5-14-63)
SUGARCREEK - Garaway (4-3) nipped Strasburg (6-1) 8-7 in a Tuscarawas County League Baseball game here last night, the Tigers' initial loop setback of the season. Coach Pete Angelo's nine now is 6-1 in the league. Tuscarawas is 4-1 and if the Broncos win their remaining 2 games, a playoff will be necessary. Ron Wheeler hurled the win for Garaway, scattering 10 hits, walking 2 and striking out 3. His teammates committed 4 errors. Dave Dayton took the loss, Ron Lab hurling the final 2/3 of an inning. The duo was touched for 6 hits, issued 2 free passes and fanned 3. Strasburg was guilty of 7 miscues. Randy Miller had 2 singles to top Garaway. Tom Dreher had a double and a single, Vic Gessner 2 singles and Ron Lab a double for Strasburg. Garaway tallied single markers in the 1st and 4th frames, got 2 in the 5th and 4 (without a hit) in the sixth. Strasburg plated a run in the first, 5 in the 5th and another in the sixth.
