64 - Stone Creek Whips Baltic 71-56 (1-11-64)

STONE CREEK - The surprising Stone Creek High Panther basketballers (7-4) continued to improve  their record  here Saturday night with a decision over winless Baltic (0-10).  The Panthers, coached by first-year boss Charles Huggins,  thus have won more games than any team since the 1958-59 quintet had a 13-9 slate.  The Eagles of  Coach Stan Berkman led just once, 8-7 in the 1st quarter.  From then on it was all Stone Creek.  Dick McPherson paced the winners with 21 points.  Jim Wherley added 17, John Flinner popped in 12 and Vic Turner hit for 10.  Gus Regula and Jeff Schlarb led Baltic with 15 each.  Keith Miller had 10.  Stone Creek made 29 of 74 action shots for 39 percent and hit on 13 of 23 charities.  Baltic was 21 of 50 for 43 percent and 14 of 20 respectively.  The Eagles lost Miller with 3 minutes left and  Ron  Maurer with 40 seconds remaining.  The Stone Creek Reserves (7-3) turned back the Baltic Reserves (0-8) 36-29.
