64 - Midvale Rolls Over Conotton Valley 61-42 (1-11-64)

LEESVILLE - The one-two punch of unstoppable Dean DeMattio and Dan Kohler plus a tight defense enabled the Pete Hilliard-coached Midvale Blue Devils (10-3) to take a decision from Conotton Valley (4-6) here Saturday night.  DeMattio, the Tuscarawas County Class A League's most valuable player a year ago, took game scoring honors with 27 points.  Kohler tossed in 22.  The Blue Devils defense limited the Errol Jacobs-coached Rockets to but 34 field goal attempts.  Midvale took 58.  DeMattio now has 326 points in leading Midvale, an average of 24.5 per contest.  The Blue Devils started slowly, but held a 15-7 lead at the 1st stop and were in front 29-23 at intermission.  The 3rd canto actually told the tale as Midvale went into the final frame ahead 48-33.  Midvale sank 23 of its floor shots for a good 40 percent and made 15 of 19 free tosses.  Conotton swished 18 action attempts for a hot 53 percent and was 6 of 22 at the foul lines.  It was a thriller in the Reserve game as Midvale (6-4) prevaled over Conotton Valley 52-50 in 3 overtime periods.
