64 - Midvale Thumps Gnaden 72-55 (12-7-63)
GNADENHUTTEN - Dean DeMattio was in top form here Saturday night as Midvale (3-1) thumped Gnadenhuten (2-2). The 6-2 Senior, "held" to 12 points Friday night in a winning cause against Port Washington (1-4), zeroed in on the cords for 35 here Saturday as he kept his mates out of trouble. He now has 99 for the Pete Hilliard-coached Blue Devils. Only a 68-66 decision to powerful Strasburg mars their slate. DeMattio also was top rebounder for the victors with 12. A tight half-court press played havoc with the Oren Thompson-coached Indians. Midvale got several points. Larry Rentsch paced the Indians with 21. Normally high-scoring Bruce Kohl was limited to 8. He fouled out in the 3rd period. Tribesman Gene Bates, a regular, sat out the game beause of the flu. Rentsch plucked down 15 rebounds for the Indians. The Gnadenhutten Reserves (1-0) won their game against the winless Midvale Reserves (0-3) 35-27.
