63 - Baltic Gets 1st Win At Port 12-9 - Strasburg Falls To Hiland 4-0 (5-13-63)

PORT WASHINGTON - Baltic garnered its initial win of the spring season here last night, outlasting Port Washington 12-9.  Dick Gerber, in relief of Larry Luke, was the winner.  The duo gave up 4 hits and walked 8.  Larry Laisure, in relief of  Leonard Cameron, took the loss.  The pair was touched for 5 hits and issued 10 free passes.  Bob Werker and Tim Richardson both had doubles for Coach Errol Jacobs' nine.  Laisure had a double for Port Washington.

STRASBURG - Hiland whipped Strasburg 4-0 here Monday evening behind the 2-hit pitching of Art Mullet.  Mullet fanned 12 and walked, but 1 Tiger.  Ron Lab took the loss,allowing 7 hits, walking 4 and striking out 7.  Wade Mullet supplied the big bat for the Hawks, stroking a 2 run Home Run in the top of the seventh inning.  Stan Garber poked 2 singles.  Vic Gessner and Frank Welling had Strasburg's only hits, both singles.  Midvale is 3-0 in the league and has announced that they have now dropped out of competition due to their commitment to the Sectional and District tournaments which have already been in progress.  They indicated that they would be unable to make up their games for further competition.
