ZOARVILLE - Tuscarawas Valley (4-1) (6-6) had to come from behind to turn back Stone Creek (2-4) (7-5). Trailing 25-21 at the half after an 11-11 first period deadlock, the Trojans of Coach Ken Gold vaulted ahead 39-36 going into the final frame. Tuscarawas Valley was in front by 5 points with 2 minutes left, but the Panthers of Coach Charles Huggins pulled a pair of thefts for baskets to cut the count to 1. Trojan Dave Widder then sank a foul try with a second left for the 2-point spread. The 2 teams battled back and forth all the way and both used a pressing defense. The Trojans hit on 20 of 41 action shots for a very good 49 percent and swished 9 of 14 charities. The Panthers were 19 of 35 for a hot 53 percent and 9 of 16 respectively. Paul Shipbaugh tossed in 16 points to pace the Trojans. Gary Adams got 13 and Bob Burris 11. Verle Endlich was high for the Panthers with 15. Dick McPherson added 10. In the Reserve game, Tuscarawas Valley (3-7) trimmed Stone Creek (7-4) 36-30.
