63 - Heller Quits Tusky Valley Cage Job

ZOARVILLE - Tuscarawas Valley High is without a head football and basketball coach both today following the resignation of cage boss Robert Heller. Football Coach Ed Baran resigned last month to devote full time to teaching. Executive Head Bill Kinneer said Heller also may stay with the school system as a teacher. Heller also served as baseball coach. Tuscarawas Valley has enjoyed great basketball success under Heller, compiling a 75-47 won-loss record over 6 years. Included in that mark is 19-3 over-all in 1958-59 and a co-league title with Garaway in 1961. The Trojans had just 1 losing season under Heller, posting a 3-17 mark 2 seasons ago. This past campaign, the Trojans started slowly, but ended with a rush to post a 14-8 record. They lost 59-58 to Strasburg in the final seconds of the County Tournament. Tuscarawas County now is without 5 coaches for next season, Ken Lawhun at Stone Creek, Joe Richards at Garaway and Errol Jacobs at Baltic joining Heller and Baran in the "outgoing" ranks.
