64 - Garaway Turns Back Port Washington 59-48 (1-3-64)

SUGARCREEK - Garaway (2-1) (5-3) took a 13-point lead 33-20 in  the 1st half and then held on against the stubborn Port Washington  Purple Riders (1-3) (2-7) for the victory.  Port rallied in the 4th to move within 6 points before Garaway went into a control game to preserve the victory.  Randy Miller led the Pirates as the 6-1 Junior took game laurels with 21 markers, while Don  Deetz followed with 16.  Steve Bender paced the  Riders with 13, while Ken Gay and Jim Bates each had 10.  Garaway hit 25 of 68 field goal attempts for 37 percent, while Port made 22 of 54 attempts for 46 percent.  The Pirates, led by Dan Andreas' 20 grabs, out-rebounded Port 50-25.  The Port Washington Reserves (3-4) ran over the Garaway Reserves (1-6) 34-17.
