64 - Hiland Clips Tusky Valley 57-55 (12-27-63)




BERLIN - Victory No. 6 is in the Hiland High record books, a 57-55 decision over Tuscarawas Valley (3-4) here Friday night.  The Hawks of Coach Bob Schrock (6-1) spurted out to an 18-8 lead at the 1st stop, were in front 31-26 at intermission and led 46-44 after 3 stops.  Tuscarawas Valley, guided by Ken Gold, managed to knot the count twice in the 3rd period at 46-46 and 48-48 in the final frame, but never could break on top.  The Trojans played without the services of 6-5 Gary Ferren.  Hiland was led by Bill Horrisberger with 15 points.  Norman Feller got 14 and Stan Hochstetler 11.  Paul Shipbaugh canned 19 and Dave Widder 16 for Tusarawas Valley.  The Hawks made 21 of 60 from action for 35 percent and 15 of 20 free tosses.  The Trojans had as many field goals in 50 tries for 36 percent, but made only 13 of 19 foul attempts.  Hiland led in rebounds, 38 to 30.  Feller pulled down 11.  The Hiland Reserves rubbed out the Tuscarawas Reserves (1-5) 43-35.
