64 - Garaway Gets By Stone Creek 63-57 (1-10-64)

STONE CREEK - Balance was the big difference between Garaway (3-1) (6-4) and Stone Creek (2-3) (6-4) as 5 Pirates reached double figures and only 2 Panthers.  The Pirates raced to an 11-5 lead and were in front 23-14 at the 1st stop, 33-24 at intermission and 49-39 going into the final frame.  Stone Creek narrowed the deficit to 61-57 with just 16 seconds left.  Pirate Don Deetz fouled out with 3 minutes remaining, but still took honors for Garaway with 15 points.  Randy Miller added 14, Tim Stevanus and Dan Andreas 12 and Jim Young 10.  Panther John Flinner was forced to the bench because of personals with 2 minutes left after popping in 19 markers.  Teammate Verle (Curly) Endlich added 13.  Garaway made 26 of 53 action shots for a fine 49 percent and drilled in 11 of 17 free tosses.  Stone Creek sank 20 of 50 for 40 percent and 17 of 27 respectively.  The Pirates took down 32 rebounds to 21 for the Panthers.  Andreas pulled in the most.  The loss snapped a 2-game Stone Creek winning streak.  The Garaway Reserves (2-6) eaked out a win over a strong Stone Creek Reserve team (6-3) 29-26.
