64 - Strasburg Survives East Canton 72-70 "Van Fossen Hero-Peters Gets 30" (1-25-64)

STRASBURG - Rock Van Fossen was the hero here Saturday night as Strasburg High (13-1) got the nod over East Canton (10-4).  Van Fossen sank both ends of a one-and-one situation with 2 seconds left to break a 68-68 tie and, after the Hornets had deadlocked the count again,  stole the ball and was fouled, again making both ends of a one-and-one situation.  All-Ohio candidate John Peters carried the brunt of the attack throughout, ending with 30 points.  Rick Hall added 12 and pulled down 14 rebounds as the Tigers contolled the boards, 33 to 26.  Bob Farnsworth got 27 markers and Jim Crumrine 21 for the Hornets.  Strasburg popped in 27 of 59 action shots for 48 percent and drilled through 18 of 30 charities.  East Canton connected on 26 of 63 from the floor and dropped 15 of 28 foul attempts.  Five points was the top lead for either team.  East Canton holding that advantage  in the final frame.  The Mighty Strasburg Reserves, also 13-1, pasted the East Canton Reserves 68-35.
