TUSCARAWAS - Coach Dick Ronald and his Tuscarawas High basketballers (1-3) went to their homes happy for the 1st time this season following Saturday's victory over Augusta. Winless in previous outings, the Broncos led 23-22 at the 1st stop, 45-27 at the half and 65-47 going into the final frame. A 30-point outburst by Phil Caldwell paced the Broncos. Roger Knisely added 15, Russ Ashkettle had 11 and Jeff Maxwell 10. Tuscarawas was ahead in rebounds also, pulling down 54 to 37 for Augusta. Caldwell led the Broncos in this department, too, with 22. The Broncos canned 32 of 90 actions shots for 35 percent and 23 of 38 free tosses. Augusta hit on 28 of 77 from the floor for 38 percent and swished 16 of 27 from the foul lines. The Tuscarawas Reserves (4-0) remained unbeaten with a 70-36 slaughter of the Augusta Reserves.
