64 - Garaway Trims Gnaden 55-45 (1-25-64)

GNADENHUTTEN - Only a few points separated these 2 teams all night, with the deciding factor being a tight defense by the Pirates (5-1) (9-5) in the final quarter and their ability to work for the good shots.  Gnadenhutten (2-5) (4-11) spurted into  a 10-3 lead and held on for a 15-12 advantage at the 1st stop.  The Indians hiked their advantage to 9 points mid-way in the 2nd stanza, 25-16.  The Pirates of Coach Glenn Miller kept pecking away and took their 1st lead, 29-27, late in the period and had a 33-28 margin at intermission.  Garaway held a 39-38 "cushion" going into the final frame when it limited Gnadenhutten to but 7 foul points.  Don Deetz of Garaway took game scoring honors with 22 points.  Teammate Dan Andreas popped in 10.  Bruce Kohl had 15, Gene Bates 14 and Don Garrett 10 for Gnadenhutten.  Garaway fired in 21 of 43 action shots for 48 percent and made 13 of 18 free tosses.  Gnadenhutten was 18 of 40 for 45 percent and  9 of  20.  The Pirates pulled down 39 rebounds, with Randy Miller nestling in 14 and Andreas 10.  Rentsch got 10 of the Indians' 24.  The Gnadenhutten Reserves (5-7) won their game 40-37 over the Garaway Reserves (4-8).
