MIDVALE - The Pete Hilliard-coached Blue Devils (2-0) (4-1) jumped out to an 8-1 lead and never were threatened as they used a half-court press effectively. Midvale rammed in 25 of 56 action shots for a fine 48 percent and made 12 of 22 foul tries. Stone Creek (0-2) (4-3) mustered 22 of 51 from the floor for a good 49 percent and hit on 11 of 23 charities. The Blue Devils led in rebounds, 36 to 20. Dean DeMattio paced Midvale both in scoring and on the boards as he pushed 15 markers through the nets and grabbed in 15 rebounds. Dan Kohler had 14 markers for the Blue Devils and Ted Tolloti 10. Verle (Curly) Endlich was high for the Panthers with 16 points. Jim Wherley, who fouled out late in the final frame, added 12, Vic Turner had 11 and Dick McPherson 10. Midvale Reserves (1-3) picked up their 1st win of the season over the Stone Creek Reserves (4-2) 37-29.
