64 - Down The Line With Dan Kopp

DOVER - One of the most prolific scorers in Tuscarawas County is Midvale's Dean DeMattio who has 383 markers in 15 contests.  His average is 25.5.  John Peters of Strasburg has 343 in 14 for 24.5.  Peters is the top point-maker inthe Count class A League with 152 in 6 for 25.3.  DeMattio  has 130 in 6 for 21.6.

Three county schools:  Baltic, Gnadenhutten and Port Washington have no chance for an even split this season.  Baltic is 0-14 with 3 games left, Gnadenhutten is 5-11 with 4 remaining and Port Washington is 3-9 with 5 to go.  Those assured of breaking even or better include:  Garaway (10-5) and 3 left, Midvale (12-3) and 3, and Strasburg (13-1) and 4.

KOPPY'S KORNER - A basketball score of 2-0!  That's what fans watching the Sumner, Oklahoma High and Coyle High game saw.  Coyle, a 78-52 loser to Sumner earlier in the season, stalled the ball for the entire 1st half and the teams went into their lockerrooms tied 0-0.  Sumner's Gary Yoise "borke the game open" early in the 3rd period with his team's 1st and only shot.  Coyle waited until the final 2 seconds to take its first shot---and missed.
