A red-hot battle for second place in the Tuscarawas County Class "A" individual scoring ranks was being waged this week between Midvale's Ron Breniser and Koran Zehnder of Garaway. Baltic's John Rice is the leader with 263 points. Zehnder was in the second spot a week ago, but was shuttled to third this week when Breniser scored 52 points in 2 games last week. Half of those came from the foul line. Breniser now has 249 for a 20.4 average, while Zehnder is 12 behind at 237, a 21.5 average per game - tops in the county. A big move saw Frank Wallick of Strasburg vault into fifth place in from the bottom spot he held a week ago. The Tiger ace now has 204 points. Stone Creek, it is interesting to note, is on the verge of giving up its 1,000th point There's a good chance it could occur this weekend since the Panthers meet Tuscarawas Valley, the county's No. 2 Class "A" team. Coach Ernie Lukens' team has permitted a whooping total of 964 points.
