60 - Blue Devils March Over Port 13-7 (4-14-60)

MIDVALE - Pushing across runs in every inning but one the Midvale (1-0) baseballers measured Port Washington (0-1) yesterday in league play. The Port lads rallied for 3 runs in the seventh, but fell short in the makeup game. Sophomore Neal Beans (1-0) went the distance for the Devils, allowing 9 hits, fanning 8 and walking 8. John Landon (0-1) and Jim Bender (0-0) shared mound duties for Port, giving up 12 hits, walking 8 and striking out 7. The game was the first for both teams. Both are slated for regularly scheduled loop contests today. Jim Byers smacked 3 hits and Vince Denoi had 2 for Midvale, while Loader cracked 3 hits for Port, getting a single, double and triple in 5 trips. Gary Gay added 2 hits for the Riders attack.
