Garaway continues to spin its tale of success on the basketball hardwoods. The Pirates, when this season is completed, will be tagged as one of the greatest quintets in the history of the school and Tuscarawas County, no matter what is accomplished in tournament warfare. Last night the Pirates mathematically eliminated all but one team in the Tuscarawas County Class "A" League chase by running away with the Stone Creek Panthers 95-46. Tuscarawas Valley, which scored a 77-59 victory over Gnadenhutten on the tribe grounds, is the only team within reach of Garaway's sporty 7-0 loop mark. The Trojans have already missed their opportunity to stop the Pirates and are pinning their hopes for a share of the title on Tuscarawas. That's where Garaway will be February 12 for its final loop contest of the season. Last night Tusky defeated Port Washington 64-54. It, along with Midvale, which edged Strasburg 64-60 in an overtime thriller on the Tiger courts last night, are still in position for second place, providing they win while Tusky Valley loses to its final foe, Baltic. It all adds up to a big final in 2 weeks of action for county fans.
