60 - TV Tops Strasburg 78-58 (2-3-60)


BOLIVAR - Tuscarawas Valley today had its sights set on a Buckin' Bronco and a continued chance for a portion of the top booty in the Tuscarawas County Class "A" League. The Trojans will entertain Tuscarawas Friday night in a league encounter with a victory a "must" if they expect to keep their hopes alive for a possible tie with Garaway for the title. Tusky Valley (12-3), which is 6-1 in the league, snared victory No. 12 last night defeating arch-rival Strasburg (5-11). Clicking off 2 fine middle periods in which they outscored the invaders 15-6 and 24-14, TV shook off a 15-14 deficit at the end of the first period for the triumph. Strasburg is in the throes of a 4-game losing streak. The Trojans and Tigers waged a hot battle in shooting. Tusky Valley made 30 of 62 shots from the floor for 49 percent and Strasburg connected on 22 of 52 attempts for 42 percent. The Trojans added 16 of 27 tries at the foul line and Strasburg made 14 of 32. Clarence Cantrill hit the nets for 21 points to lead a TV attack which saw Jim Studer can 17, Ronnie Lake 15 and Al Cerett 10. Frank Wallick of Strasburg took game laurels with 22 points. Teammate Bill Seese meshed 11. In the Reserve game, Tuscarawas Valley Reserves (8-6) blew by the Strasburg Reserves (6-9) 50-31.
