Chet Summer and Dean Kerns gave a splendid display of spirited play in the all important final seconds to pace Tuscarawas' victory. Baltic (14-8) took the lead at the outset and held the pole by slim margins until 6:16 was left in the third period. Tusky (11-8) took a 27-26 advantage at this point on a corner shot by Gary Caviness. The lead shifted 8 more times before the Broncos went on top to stay at 43-41 with 3:48 remaining to play. The advantage came on a beautiful feed-in by Chip McCaHill to Kerns, while the lanky pivot man shortly followed this by a rebound 2-pointer off a missed foul by McCaHill. The victory for Coach Kermit Smulbach's Broncos was a great team effort in every sense of the word. Baltic managed to hold Caviness to 13 points., but Tusky took full advantageof this defensive maneuver with Summers having one of his best nights with 15, Kerns "potting" 10 and Meese 9. Summers was "Johnny-on-the-spot" most of the evening, including all-important rebounds in the fading seconds. The defensive board play of McCaHill and Kerns stood out as big assts in the Tusky victory. Gary Gerber, who has been out of the Baltic lineup since the middle of January with a hairline fracture in his leg, tallied 22 points to top the Eagles. John Rice, who went into the contest with 378 points, was held to 9 by the Broncos for his second lowest output of the season, where-in may lie another big reason for the Tuscarawas victory. Tuscarawas hit 23 of 58 fro the field for 39 percent, while Baltic meshed 22 of 65 for 33 percent.
