Tuscarawas Valley (16-6) suffered its poorest night on the tournament trail when it made only 27 percent of its shots from the field and 7 of 21 from the foul line. A frigid second half resulted in only 9 of 45 action attempts connecting. That and Jerry Allison, Killbuck's point star, were the main reasons for the Trojans' defeat. Ron Lake paced the Trojans in the first period, scoring 6 points as his team trailed only 10-9. The Bucks (16-6) went in front 16-9 before the Trojans settled down, following a time out. They came back, roaring into the lead at 17-16 as Clarence Cantrill fired in 4 fielders. The squads battled neck-and-neck and when halftime rolled around the Trojans held a narrow 27-25 lead. It was the last time they were on top. With the opening of the third period, Allison took charge, grabbing a rebound and shoving the ball back through the hoop. Claude Arnold added a foul and Allison came back with a 3-point play, Bill Norris then stole the ball and laid it in and with only 2 minutes clicked off, Killbuck led 33-27 -- this time for keeps. Allison ended the night with 30 points, while Roger McDowell made 15 and Claude Arnold 12. Lake, the 5-5 All-County ace, made 19 points and Cantrill had 10 for Tusky Valley.
