60 - Tuscarawas County Class "A" Basketball League Standings (1-23-60)

Things went pretty much true to form last night in the Tuscarawas County Class "A" League. League-leading Garaway frolicked to its 6th straight win and 12th in 13 tries this season when it defeated Strasburg 61-37. Second-place Tuscarawas Valley had an even easier time with Stone Creek, which hasn't found a winning combination in 14 games, 6 of them in the league. Final-score - Tuscarawas Valley 91, Stone Creek 60. As expected, Midvale and Gnadenhutten provided most of the thrills. The Blue Devils thwarted a fourth-period drive by the Tribe to nab a 60-53 decision to avenge an earlier non-league defeat. And the biggest surprise of the night was Baltic's 72-52 trouncing by Tuscarawas. The Eagles, without second leading scorer Gary Gerber, found the broncos too tough to handle. Port Washington, the league's 9th team, was not idle. The Purple Riders engaged Malvern in a non-league contest and won 54-50.
