STRASBURG - Sandy Valley (6-3) rebounded into the victory column here last night by downing the host Strasburg Tigers (5-8). The Tigers marched out to an early 4-0 lead, but could not maintain it against the Class "AA" Cardinals, who bounced back to go into a lead they never relinquished. With Jim Boyd hitting 15 markers and Bob Baxter 11, the Cardinals rolled to leads of 15-10, 25-16 and 40-30 at the quarter stops. Frank Wallick banged in 14 points and Bill Seese 10 for the Bengals. Strasburg defensive standout Dale Liggett, who missed school Monday and Tuesday, played, but was not up to par. Both teams hit nearly the same percentage from the field, with Strasburg making 17 of 53 for 38 percent and Sandy 24 of 72 for 33 percent. The Tigers hit on 10 of 14 from the foul line and the invaders 6 of 15. Strasburg narrowed the lead to 7 points twice in the final stages of the game, but miscues hurt in the drives. In all, the Tigers had 19 turnovers. Sandy Valley had 14. The Sandy Valley Reserves were winners as they edged past the Strasburg Reserves (6-7) 29-26.
