Strasburg (3-4) (5-10) has had its bumps during the past season, but last night against Midvale (5-2) (9-7) they really hurt. The Tigers, after falling behind 14-12 at the end of the first period, moved into a lead they didn't relinquish until the final moments of regulation time. They led by as much as 15 points several times during the game and were in the lead 38-27 and 49-44 at the second and third quarter stops. Bill Seese fouled out just as the final chapter got underway and the Tigers were in trouble. Midvale's Ron Kaderly tied the game 57-57 with 1 minute to play and Warren Leggett followed shortly after with a fielder to put the Blue Devils in front 59-57. Strasburg's Frank Wallick connected just as the final buzzzer sounded to tie the game and send it into overtime. Strasburg gained the tip in the overtime and Sophomore Jim Clymer was fouled. He made it to put the Tigers on top. But Midvale went on top to stay when Strasburg's old nemesis - Kaderly - hit on a jump shot to make the score 61-60, putting Midvale in the lead for keeps. The teams were even steven from the field with 25 goals, the Blue Devils in 58 tries for 43 percent and Strasburg in 61 for 41 percent. Midvale's edge came at the foul line where it made 14 of 18. The Tigers made 10 of 11. Setting the pace for the Blue Devils was Ron Breniser with 17 points. Neil Beans added 16 and Leggett had 14. Wallick, a "Tiger" under the boards with 42 rebounds, 36 of them defensively, scored 21 points for Strasburg. Dale Liggett ended with 16 and Bill Seese 13. The Reserve game was not reported.
