BALTIC - Garaway (4-0) (9-1) extended its County Class "A" League leadership here Saturday night by taking its 4th straight loop triumph, defeating the host Baltic Eagles (1-3) (6-6). Baltic was behind most of the way. It narrowed the Garaway lead to 4 points early in the third period, but couldn't make it past the hot shooting invaders. Coach Jim Weinsz' charges doubled up on the Pirates' Koran Zehnder in the first half and held him to 9 points. But teammate Charles Stingel took over and tallied 14. Switching tactics in the second portion of the game, the Eagles stuck with Stingel, limiting him to 2 points. But Zehnder broke out in a scoring rash to mesh 22 points and ended the night with scoring laurels on his 31-point total. Stingel ended with 16. Gary Gerber returned from the sick list for the Eagles and regained his scoring form by pouring in 15 points, the same number as teammate John Rice. Gary Mast added 11. The Eagles' starting guard, Dave Berger, received an elbow in the nose early in the second period and the cut required a stitch to close. He did not get into any further action. Baltic is at Keene tomorrow night and Garaway returns to action Friday, traveling to Gnadenhutten in another league test. The Baltic Reserves (11-1), having a great reserve season, just got by the Garaway Reserves (6-4) 41-39.
