Baltic (2-3) (8-6) came on strong in the final quarter for a hard-fought nod over Port Washington (1-4) (6-7) with a 27-point outburst. Port, which led 40-36 at the end of 3 stanzas, could muster only 12 in the last quarter. Gary Gerber led the Eagles with 24 points on fine outside shooting and John Rice potted 15 and Bob Ladrach 13. Larry Hagan led Port with 15 points, while Bill LPhillips and Jim Bender hit 11 apiece and Bill Fisher had 10. Port will move to Malvern next Friday and Baltic is at Roscoe Tuesday in their next outings. The two teams were nearly even steven on the backboards with Baltic pulling down 15 offensive and 14 defensive for 29, and Port 14 offensive and 12 defensive for 26. Baltic made 26 of 68 from the floor for 38 percent, while the Riders connected 20 times in 59 attempts for 33 percent. Passes, leading to keys, from Gary Mast, Dave Berger and Larry Lautenschleger were big cogs in the win. The Baltic Reserves (12-2) just edged the Port Washington Reserves (5-8) 35-33. The Port Washington Junior High team (4-4) beat the Baltic Junior High team 32-23.
