BALTIC - Never let it be said that Baltic High's cagers are friendly neighbors. They just don't subscribe to that language. They defeated their third opponent from neighboring Coshocton County last night when they downed Warsaw for their 6th victory. Previously the Eagles (6-5) had defeated West Lafayette and Conesville, who are tied for second place in the Coshocton County League. Warsaw is the No. 1 team. The Eagles fell behind 18-11 at the end of the first period, but drew even by halftime at 31-31. They went on top 45-41 at the end of the third period. Baltic's Dave Berger, a pint-sized 5-6 guard, stepped in with a clutch performance in the final period when he drove in for 3 easy layups, while teammate John Rice was connecting from the outside to keep the invaders out of reach. Warsaw, which made 10 of 22 shots from the field in the first half, wasn't near as accurate in the second when it made only 5 of 26, the turning point of the contest. Baltic connected 23 times in 61 tries from the field. The Eagles also controlled the boards with Bob Ladrach leading the way by pulling down 18 rebounds. Rice paced the victory with 31 points and Berger followed with 15. High for the losers were Ed Finley and Bill Wright with 12 apiece. Baltic Reserves (10-1) trounced the Warsaw Reserves 36-16.
