Tusky Valley (6-1) (13-3) and Tuscarawas (4-3) (9-6) took turns in the final period playing "follow the leader." The lead changed hands numerous times before the Trojans finally broke out on top for keeps with less than one minute remaining to play. In the first period Tusky Valley appeared headed for an easy time as it took a 19-9 lead. But, in the next 3 periods the broncos outscored the hosts 15-13, 14-13 and 16-15 to stay in the game right until the final seconds. Bruce Ickes turned in one of his finest jobs on the boards of the season for Coach Bob Heller's crew and added 8 points. Jim Studer snared high scoring laurels for the Trojans with 21 points. Ron Lake added 13 and Clarence Cantrill 10. Setting the pace for the Broncos was Phil Meese with 23 points and Gary Caviness with 17. Tusky Valley made 28 of 71 from the field for 40 percent, while Tuscarawas had the same percentage after making 18 of 45. The Trojans made only 4 of 15 from the foul line, while the broncos connected 18 times in 28 tries. The Tuscarawas Reserves (15-0) with another win toppled the Tuscarawas Valley Reserves (8-7)54-31. The Junior High teams started the night off with Tuscarawas Valley creaming Tuscarawas 37-10.*
