BOLIVAR - Tuscarawas Valley (6-1) came up with one of its biggest victories of the season here last night, toppling the Conotton Valley Rockets (6-1) from the unbeaten ranks. The Rockets, top team in Harrison County, spurted to a 12-8 opening period margin and led all the way, posting margins of 32-23 and 53-46 at the next 2 stops. The Trojans were ahead by as much as 12 points during the game. For the most part; however, the teams were never separated by more than 5 or 7 points in a well-played contest. Both teams enjoyed good nights from the field as they counted marks of 45 percent. The Trojans made 30 of 67 and the Rockets 23 of 51. Conotton gave an equally top performance at the foul line, meshing 23 of 30 for 77 percent. TV made 16 of 23 for 70 percent. Jerry Pullins came through with an outstanding performance in the third period, when regular Jim Studer was benched with 4 fouls. Pullins connected for 3 important baskets. Studer, along with Ron Lake, fouled out of the game with 2 minutes remaining. Clarence Cantrill poured in 26 points to lead Tusky Valley. Al Cerett connected for 15, Bruce Ickes 13 and Lake 12. TheRockets' high-scoring Jack Buckey was held to 2 points, but Lanty Smith took game honors with 28. Walt Enold scored 14. The Conotton Reserves downed the TV Reserves (3-3) 44-31.
