MIDVALE - Midvale's young team appeared to be coming back into the limelight last night as the defending county champions surprised Port Washington's Purple Riders (5-5) by a lopsided score. The Blue Devils (4-5) have kindled enough fire in recent action to win 3 of the last 4 games. Ron Breniser was high scorer for Midvale with 18 points in the first half. He was held scoreless the third period and sat out the fourth. Sophomore Neal Beans, who turned in some outstanding rebound work, followed Breniser by pumping in 17 points. Jim Bender was the big gun for the Purple Riders as he canned 21 points. The Devils are scheduled at Tuscarawas January 8 and Port Washington will host Gnadenhutten January 5. The Midvale Reserves (5-4)nicked the Port Washington Reserves (4-6) 51-50. NO STATISTICS WERE REPORTED FOR THE VARSITY GAME!
