Garaway Gets By Gnadenhutten 69-60 (1-18-63)
SUGARCREEK - Gnadenhutten (2-4) (4-11) took a 24-20 lead at the first stop here, but Garaway (3-2) (7-6) went ahead midway in the 2nd stanza and went on to post 42-36 and 53-44 margins at the next 2 halts. Coach Joe Richards' club, now one game above .500, was led by Geof Stevanus with 20 points. Frank Miller added 16, Randy Miller had 13 and Don Deetz popped in 12 to the cause. Bruce Kohl of Coach Oren Thompson's Indians took scoring honors with 26, Gene Bates added 11 and Don Garrett and Terry Huebner both got 10. The Pirates hit on 27 of 65 action shots for a good 42 percent and made 15 of 28 from the foul lines. The Indians connected on 19 of 46 from the floor and popped in 22 of 31 charity tosses. The Garaway Reserves (7-5) knocked off the Gnadenhutten Reserves (6-8) 53-40.
