63 - Hiland Whacks Tusky Valley 76-52 (12-28-62)

ZOARVILLE - Hiland's Hawks (4-1) rebounded in fine fashion here last night, ripping Tuscarawas Valley (3-4).  Coach Bob Schrock's aggregation, had been knocked from the undefeated ranks by Shreve last Saturday.  Coach Bob Heller's Trojans suffered their 1st loss in the last 3 games.  The Trojans were hampered by the loss of high-scoring Gary Ferren and Ed Crawford, both regulars.  Ferren suffered a sprained ankle early in the initial period.  He sat  out all but a few minutes in the second stanza.  Crawford didn't dress for the encounter, as he is still hampered by an ankle injury received December 21 at Conotton Valley.  Hiland had little trouble with Tuscarawas Valley, taking 22-10, 46-24 and 63-36 quarter leads.  Tusky Valley got to within 9 points in the 3rd frame.  Schrock emptied his bench in the final quarter.  Senior Art Mullet led the attack for the Hawks, pouring in 25 points in little more than half the game.  Bill  Horrisberger,  Norman Feller and Joel Menuez all had 13.  Bob Burris paced the Trojans with 13 markers.  Dave Widder had 12.  Hiland connected on 29 of 58 action shots for 50 percent and 18 of 26 foul attempts.  Tuscarawas Valley made 17 of 51 from  the floor for 33 percent and 18 of 32 free tosses.  Hiland Reserves dumped the Tuscarawas Valley Reserves (0-6) 49-16.
