63 - Tusky Valley Beats Back Conotto Valley 58-53 (12-21-62)

LEESVILLE - Favored Tuscarawas Valley (3-2) was forced to come from behind to hand Conotton Valley (0-4) its 4th loss in a row here Friday night.  The Rockets jumped off to a 13-3 lead in the opening minutes, but the Trojans fought back to tie the score at 19-all in the 2nd period and moved out to a slim 29-28 lead at the half.  Despite their underdog role, the winless Rockets made a game of it against the Trojans, who may have been looking ahead at their game at Garaway tonight.  After a 42-all tie late in the third quarter, TV held onto its slim lead the rest of the way.  "The boys said they couldn't see the baskets," Trojan Coach Robert Heller said.  The lighting here isn't as bright as it is in our gym.  I don't think the boys were too confident, they just couldn't make any foul shots."  Dave Widder topped the winners with 17 points.  Gary Ferran sank 15 and Ed Crawford had 10.  Bill Tope 5-10 Senior, paced the Rockets with 24.  Ferren topped Tusky Valley in rebounds, pulling down 13.  Bob Burris grabbed 8 and Ken Burris 7.  Conotton dropped in 19 of 76 attempts from the field for 25 percent.  Tusky Valley sank 21 of 38 for 6 percent.  Each team had 30 tries from the foul line, with TV holding a 16 to 15 edge.  Conotton Valley Reserves won their game over the Tusky Valley Reserves (0-5) 50-37.
