PORT WASHINGTON - The Port Washington Purple Riders (2-1) (5-3) jumped off to a quick lead and were never in danger as they chalked up their 5th win.  Gnadenhutten (1-3) (3-8) lost its 4th in a row.  Coach Don Durham credited steady defensive play for the win.  He lauded his boys' aggressive play despite lack of height as 6-2 regular Paul Schwab was hampered by illness and played only a few minutes.  Ken Gay led the Port scoring with 18 points, including 4 key outside goals in the 1st quarter against the Indians' zone defense.  Larry Laisure added 17, Wayne Blind 13 and Tom Loader 11.  Larry Rentsch was the lone Indian in double  figures, getting 14 points.  The stingy Port defense held 6-2 letterman Bruce Kohl, the Indians' top scorer, to 7.  Port held 19-7, 32-20 and 47-30 quarter leads.  The hosts hit on 26 of 60 from the field for 43 percent.  Gnadenhutten made 16 of 52 for 33 percent.  The Port Washington sweep was started by the Port Washington Reserves (2-6) earlier in the night knocking off the Gnadenhutten Reserves (4-6) 47-31.
