63 - Lakeland Downs Midvale 61-51 (1-19-63)



FREEPORT - Lakeland's high-flying Red Raiders (11-0) added another feather to their cap here Saturday as they disposed of the Midvale Blue Devils (11-4).  Karl Stephan's crew now has chalked up 11 straight on the hardwoods and have their aims set on Lakeland's record of 16 in a row set in 1960-61 when Steve Dishauzi led the Red Raiders, under the banner of Freeport.  The 1st quarter was anybody's game as it ended 17-15 for the host Raiders.  They won the game on a big 2nd period burst outscoring Midvale 20-6 to take a 37-21 margin at halftime.  The Devils outscored the hosts 30-24 in the second half.  Mike Milarcik won the personal duel between himself and Midvale's high-scoring Dean DeMattio.  He racked up 29 points, 20 of which came in the 1st half.  DeMattio hit 21.  The Midvale ace collected 11 of  his points in the 1st period.  Gary Kinsey followed Milarcik in the point department with 12.  Bob Byers followed DeMattio,collecting 10.  The Lakeland Reserves edged the Midvale Reserves (11-3) 50-46.
