63 - Midvale Blows Away Scio 86-65 (12-22-62)




MIDVALE - The Midvale Blue Devils (7-2) continued their high scoring antics here Saturday night as they followed up a 100-plus uprising Friday night before with an 80-plus triumph over Scio (1-3).  The Devils of Coach Pete Hilliard parlayed a great second-half front court scoring with inside ability.  Leading only 16-13 at the first stop, veteran Bob Byers waxed hot in the 2nd stanza to drop 5 buckets and a foul to send Midvale off to its win.  Midvale took a 35-21 lead by halftime.  Moving out to stop Byers, Scio met the forte of the Midvale attack this kear,  Dean DeMattio who was held scoreless in the 2nd canto.  DeMattio canned 13 points in the 3rd from inside the key and the Devils broke the game open to hold a comfortable 64-37 lead at the last rest.  Byers and DeMattio each ended with 21 points for game honors.  Don Basquin enjoyed his best night with 20.  Gary Crall, Scio's fine 6-1 forward led the Panthers with 20 points.  Tom Bell added 17.  Midvale, which ended with 38 field goals, hit 75 percent in the 2nd quarter uprising on 9 of 12 action attempts.  At the line, the Devils canned 10 of 13.  Scio had 11 of 21.  The Midvale Reserves (8-0) remained unbeaten by bumping off the Scio Reserves 55-33.
