63 - Baltic Wins 1st League Game 78-73 Over Tusky (1-25-63)

BALTIC - The one-two punch of Dick Gerber and Dale Stein was just about all coach Errol Jacobs' club needed as it held off a determined bid by Coach Aaron Miller's Broncos (2-5) (5-8). The Eagles (1-5) (6-10) spurted off to a 25-17 lead at the 1st stop and were on top 48-32 at intermission before the broncos cut the deficit to 62-56 at the end of 3 quarters. Gerber led all scorers with 31 points. Stein added 25, Guy Limbacher popped in 13. Russ McGlothlin led Tusky with 21 tallies. Fred Burmich got 18 and Jeff Maxwell 12. The Eagles enjoyed a great night from the floor, hitting on 31 of 63 action shots for a gleaming 48.5 percentage. They made 16 of 30 free tosses. The Broncos also had a good night shooting-wise, connecting on 29 of 66 field goals for a fine 40.9 percent. They drilled home 15 of 21 charities. In the Reserves game, Baltic (4-11) also edged Tuscarawas (5-5) 31-28. In the Junior High game, Baltic edged Tuscarawas 34-29 again for a complete sweep for the night.
