63 - Strasburg Dispatches Midvale 84-71 (1-4-63)

MIDVALE - Six-Foot John Peters rose up like a giant for the Strasburg Tigers (3-0) (7-1) here in their crucial victory over  Midvale (2-1) (8-3).  With his team trailing 54-53 going into the final quarter, the Junior guard broke loose for 17 points in the last 8 minutes to turn the nip-and-tuck affair into a near rout as the Bengals outscored Midvale 30-18.  Ending the evening with 35 points, Peters put on "one of the finest displays of shooting I've seen in a long while," according to the losing Coach  Peter Hilliard.  "There just isn't much you can do when they hit from 12 or 15 feet away like that."  The host Blue Devils were in command most  of the way in  the showdown battle, leading 26-15 at the first rest and 39-34 at halftime.  Peters got 26 of his points in  the second half rally.  Little Adrian Edie (5-7) chimed in with 15.  Don  Wallick enjoyed one of his best nights, getting 17.  Midvale's prolific scorer Junior, Dean DeMattio also had a big evening, tallying 25 points.  Don
Basquin potted 24.  Midvale was a 10-point loser to Strasburg in an early season on-league meeting.  The Strasburg Reserves (7-1) surprised the undefeated Midvale Reserves (9-1) 51-41.  In the Junior High game, Strasburg started the sweep by nipping Midvale 39-37.
