63 - Rentsch Sparks Gnaden 54-48 At Stone Creek (12-15-62)

STONE CREEK - As Rentsch goes, so goes Gnadenhutten.  The Indians (3-4) in each victory had 6-0 Junior Larry Rentsch as the spark.  Friday, he dumped in 5 field goals in an uprising that nipped Tusky and Saturday night the same  Indian scored 14 points in the 2nd half here to pace the Tribe to a triumph over Stone Creek (2-4).  Plenty of ample support was given Rentsch in a well-balanced Gnaden attack, as Bruce Kohl and Ed Allensworth each canned 11.  In addition,Sophomore Terry Huebner scored all of his 8 points in the second half.  The Indians of Coach Oren Thompson led nearly all  the way, except for a short period in the 2nd quarter when Stone Creek rallied  to go into a 5-point advantage.  Gnaden held a 25-23 edge at intermission and 40-35 lead at the outset of the final quarter.  Stone Creek, set for a makeup game at Augusta Tuesday, was led by Cliff Endlich's 19 points.  Curly Endlich chimed in with 14.  The Indians dropped 18 of 47 action  shots for a good 38 percent and hit 18 of 25 fouls.  Stone Creek again had trouble finding the hoop, hitting only 14 of 49 efforts for 28 percent and 20 of 33 charity tosses.  The Stone Creek Reserves (5-1) nipped the Gnadenhutten Reserves (2-4) 23-20.  Gnaden won the Junior High game, but no other statistics were provided.
