63 - Midvale Chills Augusta 70-32 (12-28-62)

MIDVALE - After the 1st quarter, the Augusta Vikings of Carroll County went into a control or semi-stall against the Midvale Blue Devils (8-2).  Refusing to give in to the slow tactics, the Devils continued on with a pressing game to win here last night.  In wrapping up their 8th win, the Devils were forced to go out after the Vikings to make a game of it as they decided to slow down after falling behind 24-9 at  the 1st stop.  "The game would have been of no benefit to us at all if we had gone along with the stall tactics," Midvale Coach Pete Hilliard said.  "They even passed up layup shots after that 1st quarter, apparently trying to hold the scoring down."  Dean DeMattio, playing only 3 quarters, continued his hot shooting, scoring 28 points to protect his 26-plus average.  The Midvale Reserves started the sweep by blowing away the Augusta Reserves 89-19.
